Job Summary

Brief Description

This role is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate client product data for the organization’s customers and delivering it in a timely fashion. This person will be expected to develop collaborative relationships across various internal functions and with external customers, serving as the liaison between engineering, purchasing, production, operations, IT, compliance, marketing, product management, sales and the customers they serve. This individual is also expected to quickly deploy efficient sustainable standardized operating processes, develop tools that improve communication and guide the team to the end goal of delivering clean, consistent and complete data information on new and existing products in accordance to their customer’s data and platform requirements. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Own the completeness and integrity of client’s product data files that are delivered to their customers including all traditional distributors and e-commerce partners
  • Ensure data alignment between client’s and customers’ transaction system and websites
  • Aligning with Sales, meet with key customers and business stakeholders to assure the continuity of client product data across the organizations
  • Retain a continuous focus on overall product data needs while collecting information to optimize the use of data and ensure business decisions are based on the best information available
  • Interface with marketing, product management, and engineering to prioritize digital data needs including product images, product descriptions, specification sheets, technical information, and other data as required by the customers
  • Bachelor’s degree required (MBA preferred)
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in data management, product management, or a related field
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings with current and potential Key Account and Strategic Account data teams to gather and understand business requirements for product data and to collaboratively define a roadmap to facilitate seamless business transaction capabilities
  • Submit updated PIM files to key customers 45 days prior to new product introductions or life cycle changes and 30 days prior to published price effective dates
  • Work closely with IT / BI Team to maintain a master source-of-truth database solution that scales to solve data management gaps / inconsistencies in existing requirements and efficiently incorporate new customer product information requirements
  • Own the product content needs to deliver strategy-driven customer experiences, e.g.: enabled / connected product “scan” experiences, ecommerce/internet/touchless revenue via traditional ecommerce such as EDI and “buy now” online ecommerce, new product launches, & price increases
  • Work with Product Management to identify product data requirements for existing products to meet market and customer needs while maintaining data accuracy
  • Assure that new product data content is loaded consistent with product launch timelines
  • Develop strong relationship with stakeholders across the organization, such as: Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, Purchasing, and executive teams, leading most customer-facing data projects
  • Develop and utilize procedures for accessing, tracking and reporting work progress (metrics)
  • Establish data modeling naming standards, abbreviations, product marketing groups, & best practices
  • Collaborate and strategize with data coordinators and internal partners to determine data priorities based on the situation
  • Travel an estimated 10-20% to customer locations and other business sites
