Position Details


Job Summary


  • Oversees the security of systems and networks.
  • Plans and conducts user training to provide overviews of systems security.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
  • Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
  • Collaborates with users to discuss computer data access needs and identify potential security threats.
  • Uses encryption, firewalls, and other appropriate security tools and applications to conceal and protect transfers of confidential digital information.
  • Monitors and restricts access to sensitive, confidential, or other high-security data.
  • Modifies security files as necessary to provide specialized access, allow new software to be installed or integrates, or correct errors. 
  • Safeguard system security and improves overall network efficiency by training users and promoting security awareness.
  • Has consistent, timely on-site attendance during schedule hours and ability to work additional hours as needed.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.

  • Thorough understanding of computer-related security systems including firewalls, encryption, and password protection and authentication.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field required.
  • Three years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Network Hardware and Software
      • Cisco Catalyst 2960, 3800, and 9000 series switches
      • Cisco ISR 1K and 4K routers
      • Cisco ASA and FTD security appliances

      • Cisco Duo multifactor authentication

      • Cisco 2504 and 9800 wireless LAN controllers

    • Technologies
      • LAN switching and routing

      • Firewall configuration

      • VPN tunnels

      • Equipment Code upgrades 

Skills and/or Abilities

  • Outstanding computer skills
  • Extensive knowledge of computer systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of data communications security procedures.
  • Ability to install security software to monitor system usage.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with various departments and foster teamwork.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of IT systems.
