Job Summary

Beacon Technologies is seeking a .Net Web Developer II for our client partner. The .Net developer position (full stack with strong emphasis on backend) will have at least 6 years of experience for the PROTECT Modernization Project. The position will be remote though the candidate must reside in WI. This position is responsible for participating in the refactoring of the PROTECT case management system which involves moving much of the processing from the client to the back end and middleware and keeping a thin client application. This position serves as a member of the core team that includes members of the existing team and IT contractors. PROTECT is a comprehensive case management system used by all 71 District Attorney offices in the State (1600 users). The system is mission-critical for the operation of the DA offices as well as State justice partners (DOJ, DOT, DOC and CCAP) through various interfaces. This is in a multi-year project to modernize PROTECT (currently client server based), which includes migrating select infrastructure services and functions to the cloud, enhancing system performance, deploying intelligent monitoring and storage, and integrating tighter security controls to maintain regulatory compliance.

Experience: At least 6 years of experience
REQUIRED:

  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with expertise in .NET technologies, including ASP.NET, C#, .NET Core, Entity Framework, etc.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and SecureDevOps practices.
  • Experience with database technologies such as SQL Server, in hybrid on premise and cloud environment.
  • Experience with server-side event-driven programming and event handlers.
  • Experience with API development such as SOAP and REST, Stored Procedures, and batch processing/queues.
  • Experience with application and backend security implementations.
  • Experience with secure network communications as they relate to the back-end’s requirements.
  • Experience with performance optimization.
  • Knowledge of batch processing techniques and scheduling batch jobs.
  • Experience working in agile environment.
  • Ability to develop technical specifications and documentation for automated business systems.
  • Ability to develop works plans, estimate effort, and track progress on projects and tasks.
  • Experience with modernizing legacy applications, migrating interfaces, and working with legacy codebases.
  • Experience with managing hybrid database environment (on premise and cloud).
  • Experience in setting up backend automated testing.
  • Utilization of secure coding practices.
  • Experience working with sensitive and restricted data and their compliance requirements.

Example Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the development team to modernize a legacy desktop application.
  • Set up and manage databases on premises and in the cloud.
  • Implement event handlers to manage asynchronous processes and improve application responsiveness.
  • Create and optimize batch jobs for efficient data processing and system performance.
  • Integrate event handlers, batch jobs, and message queues with external APIs, services, and third-party systems.
  • Work on migrating legacy interfaces (data exchanges between justice partners) to modern services.
  • Implement RESTful APIs and integrate third-party APIs as needed.
  • Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization to ensure high-quality and robust software solutions.
  • Integrate security controls and defensive programming practices into codebase, including input validation, output encoding, secure error handling, and logging.
  • Implement security headers, content security policies (CSP), and cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) policies to protect against web-based attacks and unauthorized access.
  • Evaluate and recommend security tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance the security posture of applications.
