Beacon Technologies is looking for a skilled Middleware Engineer. This role is remote-based.

Job Description

Under this role, you will work as a lead administrator with oversight capabilities for middleware solutions and infrastructure. Primary duties will include directional leadership, with knowledge and understanding of technologies utilized across the middleware realm like: Identity Management, Cloud Infrastructure & Usage, Messaging, Extract Transformation & Load (ETL), Enterprise Scheduling, Enterprise Service Bus, Integration Processing, Monitoring, Application Servers, File Transfer, and other related technologies. Within this role you will be working in various project efforts and with cross-functional teams to design, develop, install, tune, and provide maintenance of middleware applications. Assistance with provisioning platforms and infrastructure with middleware solutions. Forecasting and capacity planning along with foresight and understanding on technology directions will be fully utilized.

To be a successful candidate, you will need to have strong leadership capabilities along with broad knowledge of various applications and technologies. You will be guiding and mentoring team members on middleware software and technologies, helping maintain a stable and consistent environment and establishing best practices for planning and support of these technologies. You will also want a strong understanding of middleware technologies, knowing industry directions along with strengths and weaknesses with on-premises or cloud deployments. You will need to be able to install, configure, test, provide production support, monitor, and trouble-shoot software and applications using middleware technologies.

As a Middleware Engineer, you should be able to act as a primary point of contact for middleware technologies across the enterprise. These include but are not limited to; Messaging, Integration, Identity Management, File Transfer, ETL, Service Bus, etc. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in area of specialization. Drive middleware service improvement programs. Ensure adherence to quality/security standards defined for the engagement Perform Trend analysis, identify top few incidents and work with respective teams/individual to minimize the incidents. Effort estimation/reviews on a need basis for new projects.

You will:

  • Provide leadership and guidance for department with provisioning of middleware solutions across systems as deployed natively or in the cloud.
  • Engineer solutions related to middleware that support and enhance business operations with guidance from Enterprise Architect Team and Technical Management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various middleware technologies like: ETL, file transfer, Identity Management, Cloud, and others.  etc.
  • Provide technical leadership to team members through knowledge in area of specialization.
  • Technical capabilities with various platforms including Linux, AIX, and Windows systems, build and run scripts.
  • Design, development, installation, tuning, and maintenance of middleware applications.
  • Assist with provisioning platforms and infrastructure for middleware solutions.
  • Work with application development teams providing support of middleware components.
  • Define and maintain standards and governance with middleware software and API administration and utilization.
  • Perform backup & recovery, security, patch management, monitoring, & performance tuning.
  • Serve as technical resource to business analysts, solutions development, and other groups responsible for application development standards, system design and integration.
  • Prepare and maintain professional documentation of server(s) / application(s) / network configuration(s) as they relate to middleware components and infrastructure.
  • Ensure systems remain at operational excellence during infrastructure improvements (hardware/software upgrades server migrations/consolidations, application deployment, etc.).
  • Provide 1st level technical support to IT Managers, DC Systems Managers, Information Security Team and Application Development Teams
  • Participate in regular on call rotation, providing 24x7 support meeting business SLAs.

  • Required to support after hours on-call and respond in a timely manner.
