Beacon Technologies is seeking a Construction Support Director for our client partner. As the Director of Construction Support, you’ll lead the strategy and execution behind all readiness, enablement, and sustainment functions that power our internal construction program. Your leadership will ensure our teams—and the tools, materials, and systems they rely on—are always prepared to deliver with precision, safety, and speed. You’ll oversee critical support areas including splicing operations, fleet, tools, training, maintenance, materials, and forecasting of service address delivery. With a focus on safety, efficiency, and scalability, you’ll build and refine the processes that keep our construction efforts running smoothly and sustainably. In this role you will also partner closely with the Director of Construction Operations to align readiness with field execution—ensuring that every project is set up for success from day one. This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ states in which our client operates; however, the ideal candidate will live in one of our client's out-of-territory markets.
Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic leadership and oversight of all Construction Support and Splicing operations. Ensures the Construction organization has the equipment, training, tooling, materials, and splicing capacity required to meet production, quality, and service address delivery targets. Partners with the Construction Operations Director to forecast address readiness and to ensure construction enablement aligns with build schedules.
- Leads the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and best practices for all internal construction disciplines.
- Creates consistent processes for job readiness, material handling, RUS code governance, as-built documentation, and new technology introduction. Ensures regional and state-level adoption of standards to drive efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Oversees all training programs for field construction and splicing teams. Partners with operations leadership to identify skill gaps, safety risks, and process weaknesses, then directs the creation of new training content, certification programs, and hands-on workshops. Ensures all training aligns with evolving construction methods, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manages all tooling, test equipment, and consumable material programs. Oversees procurement, inventory control, calibration, and lifecycle management to ensure field teams have the right tools and materials at the right time. Coordinates with Supply Chain and Maintenance to optimize spend, minimize downtime, and ensure quality control across vendors.
- Owns and manages the address delivery forecasting function. Maintains accurate address readiness models based on splicing throughput, material availability, and completion pacing from field construction. Partners with business planning to validate forecasts and provide proactive risk assessment and recovery plans for schedule variances.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
- 8+ years of experience in telecommunications industry as it relates to planning, operations, engineering, supervision, or project management functions.
- 8+ years in a supervisory role or equivalent leadership experience.
Other Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success managing splicing operations, inventory, or fleet systems at scale.
- Comprehensive understanding of OSP construction tools, materials, and standards.
- Knowledge of current telecommunications fiber architectures and technologies.
- Financial management experience with operating and capital budgets.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of PC hardware and software as applied to engineering and analyses including databases, spreadsheets, GIS, AutoCAD, project management or workflow tools, and emerging geo-spatial applications.
- Ability to travel and manage multi-market support operations.
- Proven ability to communicate complex issues effectively to varied audiences, among them senior executives. Must be able to distill complex information to its most salient points for key decision makers.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to think creatively and to instill this thought process throughout the team.
